Like mother like daughter. I want to be the first in line to have a stove I can call and check the status of whether or not I left the teakettle on! Great idea.

Good post, Emily. To answer your question, simplicity is a lack of complexity. It is easy to make the simple clear. It is difficult to bring clarity to the complex. Information Design isn’t about making the complex simple—it is making the complex understandable.

A couple of weeks ago, while waiting for my sandwich at Panera, someone standing beside me said, "Excuse me, are you Jack?" I looked up and answered in the affirmative.
"Jack Moffett?"
"Yes, I'm Jack Moffett."
It turned out to be a guy I had been in school with from kindergarten right through high school. We had been really good friends in elementary school, but due to differing interests and levels of academic achievement, we were only acquaintances by college. Now he's working at Qdoba.

I don't know what his goals and dreams were then or are now. Maybe he's satisfied. As for me, I'm very appreciative of my college education and where it has taken me.

Sometimes, we just need little reminders.

Emily,
I like your writings because you do not just complain to rant. You back up your frustration with a game plan for improvement.
